Christmas Quiz Rules 2021

Welcome to the Christmas Quiz 2021! (If you are reading this and you have not yet joined the Christmas Quiz 2021, sorry but you can't enter until next year. Watch this blog in early November 2022 for joining instructions).

All the teams above will be displayed on a leaderboard, to be updated daily with your scores. If you do not want your score to be shown on the leaderboard, please email xmasmoviequiz@31steps.co.uk before Monday December 6th. Please note: your real name or email address will NEVER be broadcast on any leaderboard.

The rules are as follows:

On every WEEKDAY at 11am (as voted for by you); a clue will be released which is the plot summary of the movie according to IMDb, but with certain words removed and replaced with the type of word it is (e.g. Dorothy Gale would be replaced with [name]). Your job is to guess the movie based on that clue. There are no bonus points available for submitting the correct movie summary.

Your answers should be in by midnight THAT DAY.

The first correct answer will get 60 points
The second correct answer will get 50 points
The third correct answer will get 40 points 
The fourth correct answer will get 30 points
The fifth correct answer will get 20 points 
The sixth correct answer will get 10 points 

If an answer is not answered correctly by midnight it will be saved for the Six Days of Christmas (December 25-31). These may be available at double points or half points; I haven't decided yet. 

The winner will be announced on 1st January 2022. The winner will receive the terrible prize of choosing the theme for next year's quiz. You may be asked to take part in a brief survey once the quiz has ended. These are optional, but they will help to improve next year's quiz.



THE BELOW RULES ONLY APPLY TO GROUPS

All members of the group will be sent the clue at 11am as usual. When one team member submits a correct answer, their teammates will be notified. If one team member submits a wrong answer, their teammates will be notified and told the incorrect answer.

It's November, which means it’s the perfect time of year to start thinking about Christmas Quizzes (For you; I’ve been thinking about them since February). That’s right, it’s signup time once again for the annual Christmas movie quiz! This year, the theme (chosen by last year’s winner Raring to Snow ) is: When you signup, include your guess for what this means. 20 points available if you get it right!  Thanks, everyone, for signing up for the quiz! This year we have more teams than ever before, so competition will be fierce! To remind you all, the theme is Posters, meaning that I will give a brief description of a Christmas Movie poster and you have to guess which movie the poster refers to. In your signup automated reply, you should have received the following clue, worth 50 points: A man in a red cardigan looks at the camera in distress. He is surrounded by children dressed as biblical characters.
